Fascia and Soffit Replacement
Across Cardiff & South Wales
If you need fascias and soffits in Cardiff or anywhere across Wales, our team handles the full scope of roofline work — from straightforward repairs on a single board through to complete replacement of the entire fascia, soffit, and guttering system.
Fascias and soffits do more than finish off the edge of your roof. The fascia board carries your guttering and shields the rafter ends from the weather. The soffit sits beneath it, closing the gap between the roofline and the wall while allowing air to circulate through the roof space. When either of these components fails, water finds a way in — and damp timber leads to far bigger problems.
We work on terraced houses in Pontypridd, detached homes in Penarth, bungalows in Barry, and commercial units in Newport. The property type does not change our approach. Every job gets the same attention to detail, from initial inspection through to the final clean-up.
uPVC Fascias and Soffits
Built for Welsh Weather
Wales gets more than its fair share of rain. Add in coastal wind around Swansea and the Vale of Glamorgan, and timber fascias take a hammering. Older wooden boards crack, swell, and eventually rot — and once that process starts, painting over the top does not stop it.
We fit uPVC fascias and soffits as standard because the material holds up. It does not absorb moisture, will not warp, and requires no painting or staining once installed. The boards we source come with manufacturer-backed guarantees against discolouration and warping, and they are available in white, anthracite grey, black, and a range of woodgrain finishes to suit period and modern properties alike.
Where the existing timberwork is still sound, we can cap it with uPVC rather than stripping everything back. But we will always be upfront about whether capping makes sense or whether full replacement is the better long-term option.

Our Fascia and Soffit
Installation Process
We start with a site visit to check the condition of your existing roofline. Not every property needs a full strip-out — sometimes a targeted repair or a capping job is the more sensible route. We will tell you which option suits your situation and explain why.
If full replacement is needed, we erect scaffolding where required, strip back the old fascia and soffit boards, and inspect the underlying timber. Rotten rafter feet get cut back and new timber is spliced in before any new boards go on. We fit a felt drip or eaves protector under the bottom tile course to direct water into the gutter rather than behind the new fascia.
New uPVC boards are then fixed, along with ventilated soffit panels where airflow to the roof space is required under current Building Regulations. We finish by installing or reconnecting your guttering and downpipes, checking falls, and clearing the site. Every completed job is photographed, and we provide a written guarantee covering both materials and our workmanship.
Capping or Full Replacement?
This is a question that comes up on most jobs. Capping means fitting a slimmer uPVC board over your existing timber fascia. It is quicker, cheaper, and works well when the wood underneath is still solid. But capping over rotten boards is a false economy — moisture gets trapped behind the new layer and the decay carries on where you cannot see it.
Full replacement strips everything back to the rafter ends and starts fresh. It costs more upfront but removes the risk entirely. We will always recommend the option that makes practical sense for your property, not the one that inflates the invoice. If capping will do the job, we will say so. If it will not, we will explain exactly what we have found and what needs to happen.

Signs Your Fascias
or Soffits Need Replacing
Not every roofline problem is obvious from the ground. But there are a few things worth looking out for: paint that keeps peeling no matter how recently you coated it, boards that feel spongy or soft when pressed, visible gaps where the boards meet the brickwork, staining or damp patches on the underside of the soffit, gutters that have started to pull away from the fascia, or signs of birds or insects nesting behind the boards.
Any one of these can point to a larger issue. If you have spotted something that does not look right, we are happy to carry out a free inspection and give you a clear picture of what is going on — and what it would cost to sort it. There is no obligation attached to any of our quotes.
We also replace bargeboards and box ends as part of a complete roofline overhaul. These are the boards that run along the gable end of a pitched roof and the enclosed sections at the corners. They take the same weather exposure as fascias and are prone to the same problems.

No Subcontractors
Our own team carries out every fascia and soffit installation. You deal directly with the tradespeople on your roof — not a project manager relaying messages. That means faster decisions on site and nobody passing the buck if a question comes up.

Quality Materials, Fitted Properly
We source uPVC fascias and soffits from established suppliers whose products carry long-term manufacturer warranties. Cheaper boards might shave a few pounds off the quote, but they tend to discolour, warp, or crack within a few years — particularly in the Welsh climate.

Honest Assessments
Older properties — and there are plenty across Cardiff, Caerphilly, and the Valleys — sometimes reveal surprises once the boards come off. If we find rotten timber or issues with the felt, we will explain what needs addressing and agree the cost before proceeding. No surprises on the invoice.

Fascia and Soffit Work
Across Cardiff & All of Wales
Our base is in Cardiff, but we regularly carry out fascia and soffit work across the whole of South Wales and beyond. We cover Newport, the Vale of Glamorgan, Cowbridge, Llantrisant, Pontypridd, Caerphilly, Bridgend, and Swansea — along with the towns and villages in between. For larger roofline projects, we are happy to travel further afield.
The standards we apply do not change based on location. A three-bed semi in Barry gets the same quality of board, the same attention to the felt line, and the same written guarantee as a large detached property in Penarth. Most of our fascia and soffit work comes through referrals and repeat customers, which tells us we are getting the basics right: turning up on time, keeping the site tidy, and finishing the job properly before we leave.

Common Questions
Got questions about fascia and soffit replacement? Here are the ones we hear most often from homeowners across Cardiff and Wales. If your question is not covered here, give us a ring and we will do our best to help.
How much does fascia and soffit replacement cost in Cardiff?
The cost depends on the size of your property, the materials chosen, and whether scaffolding is needed. As a rough guide, uPVC replacement typically runs between £100 and £150 per linear metre. A standard semi-detached house might come in between £1,500 and £3,000 for a full fascia, soffit, and guttering package. We provide free, detailed quotes so you know exactly what you are paying for before any work starts.
How do I know if my fascias and soffits need replacing?
Look for peeling or flaking paint, boards that feel soft or spongy, visible gaps where the boards meet the wall, staining on the underside of the soffit, or gutters pulling away from the fascia. If you are unsure, we offer free inspections and will give you an honest assessment of what needs doing.
What is the difference between capping and full replacement?
Capping involves fitting a uPVC board over the existing timber. It is quicker and cheaper, but only suitable if the timber underneath is still in reasonable condition. Full replacement removes the old boards entirely. We recommend full replacement where there is any sign of rot, as capping over decayed timber simply hides the problem.
Do I need planning permission to replace fascias and soffits?
In most cases, no. Replacing fascias and soffits is classed as permitted development. If your property is a listed building or sits within a conservation area, you should check with your local planning authority before starting work. We can advise further during the quote stage.
How long does fascia and soffit replacement take?
Most jobs on an average-sized semi-detached house take between one and three days. Larger properties or those needing additional timberwork may take longer. We will give you a clear timescale when we provide your quote.
What areas do you cover for fascia and soffit work?
We are based in Cardiff and work across Wales, including Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, the Vale of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, Penarth, Barry, Caerphilly, and surrounding areas. Get in touch to confirm we cover your location.
