If you need gutter installation in Cardiff or anywhere across Wales, our team can help. We supply and fit complete guttering systems — uPVC, aluminium, and cast iron — for residential and commercial properties alike. Every job is carried out by our own employed installers, not subcontracted labour, so you deal directly with the people doing the work.
Guttering might not be the first thing you notice on a building, but it is one of the hardest-working parts of any property. When it fails, or when it was never fitted properly to begin with, you tend to find out quickly. Water spills over onto brickwork, pools around foundations, and over time causes the kind of damp problems that cost far more to put right than the guttering would have done in the first place.
We have spent over fifteen years working on properties across Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, and the Vale of Glamorgan. That experience has taught us which materials hold up in the Welsh climate and which do not — and it shapes the way we approach every installation.
Why Your Guttering
Matters More Than You Think
Why Your Guttering Matters More Than You Think
A properly installed gutter system channels rainwater from your roof into downpipes and away from your property’s foundations. It sounds simple enough, but the consequences of getting it wrong — or leaving old, failing gutters in place — can be severe. Saturated brickwork, penetrating damp, eroded mortar joints, and in more serious cases, compromised structural integrity.
Wales receives well above the UK average rainfall. Cardiff alone sees around 1,150mm per year, and areas further west get considerably more. That volume of water needs to go somewhere, and if your guttering is cracked, sagging, or poorly pitched, it ends up where you least want it.
New guttering, fitted correctly, removes that risk entirely.

Gutter Materials We Install
Not all guttering is the same, and what suits one property will not necessarily work for another. We fit three main types:
uPVC Guttering — The most common choice for homes across Cardiff and South Wales. It is lightweight, affordable, and requires very little maintenance. We fit it in half-round, square-line, and deepflow profiles depending on the roof area and pitch. Colours include white, black, brown, and anthracite grey.
Aluminium Guttering — A step up in terms of longevity. Aluminium will not rust, handles heavy rainfall well, and suits both modern builds and older properties in areas like Pontypridd and Penarth. It costs more upfront but tends to outlast uPVC by a considerable margin.
Cast Iron Guttering — Still found on many period properties in Cardiff, Barry, and throughout the Vale of Glamorgan. Where the original system has failed, we can replace it with matching cast iron profiles or, where appropriate, with cast aluminium alternatives that replicate the period look without the maintenance burden.
Our Gutter Installation Process
We keep things straightforward. Here is what happens from your initial enquiry through to completion:
Free Survey & Written Quote — We visit the property, inspect the existing guttering (or lack of it), measure up, and check the condition of fascias and soffits. You receive a detailed written quote with no hidden extras.
Material Selection — Based on the survey, we recommend the best gutter type, profile, and colour for your property. We carry stock in the most common specifications, which means shorter lead times for most jobs.
Installation — Our own teams carry out the work. Old guttering is removed, fascia boards are checked and replaced if needed, and the new system is fitted with the correct fall toward each downpipe. We test the water flow before we leave.
Site Clean-Up & Documentation — We clear all waste, photograph the completed work, and provide a written guarantee covering both materials and labour.
Signs You Need New Guttering
Most people do not think about their gutters until something goes wrong. If you have noticed any of the following, it may be time to consider a replacement rather than a patch repair.
Water Overflowing During Rainfall
If water pours over the edges rather than flowing toward the downpipe, the system is either blocked, incorrectly pitched, or undersized for your roof area. Persistent overflow leads to staining on render and saturated brickwork.
Visible Cracks, Splits, or Sagging
Older uPVC can become brittle after years of UV exposure and frost cycles. Cracked sections leak at the joints, and sagging gutters hold standing water that adds weight and accelerates the damage further.
Damp Patches or Mould Indoors
Damp on internal walls, particularly in upstairs rooms near the roofline, often traces back to a guttering problem. The water finds a way in through failed joints or missing sections, and once it reaches the wall cavity, the damage escalates quickly.

Why Choose Wales Roofing & Guttering
There are plenty of companies offering guttering work in Cardiff. The difference, in our experience, comes down to who actually does the work, what materials they use, and whether they stand behind it afterwards.
We do not subcontract any of our guttering work. Our own teams carry out every installation, which means clear accountability and direct communication on site. We use materials from established UK suppliers — nothing budget, nothing untested. And every completed job comes with a written guarantee.
We are also members of the Confederation of Roofing Contractors and hold public liability insurance. Our reviews on Checkatrade and TrustATrader reflect the standard of work we deliver day in, day out, across properties from Caerphilly to Cowbridge and everywhere in between.
Areas We Cover Across Wales
We are based in Cardiff but carry out gutter installations right across South Wales and beyond. Our regular working areas include Newport, Swansea, Bridgend, the Vale of Glamorgan, Pontypridd, Penarth, Barry, Caerphilly, and Merthyr Tydfil, though we are happy to travel further for larger projects.
The same pricing, the same materials, and the same standards apply regardless of where the job is. A terraced house in Splott receives the same attention as a detached property in Cowbridge or a commercial unit in Newport.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions from homeowners and landlords considering new guttering in Cardiff and across Wales.
How much does gutter installation cost in Cardiff?
Costs depend on the size of the property, the material chosen, and how easy it is to access the roofline. For a standard three-bedroom semi-detached house, a full uPVC gutter replacement typically falls between £500 and £900 including labour, materials, and waste removal. Aluminium systems cost more — usually from £70 per metre fitted — but tend to last considerably longer. We provide detailed written quotes after a free site survey, so you know exactly what you are paying for before any work begins.
How long does it take to install new guttering?
Most residential gutter installations are completed within a single day. A straightforward terraced or semi-detached property in Cardiff can usually be finished in four to six hours by a two-person team. Larger or more complex properties, particularly those requiring scaffolding or fascia replacement, may take a day and a half. We will confirm the expected timeline when we provide your quote.
Do I need to replace my fascias at the same time?
Not always, but it is something we check during the survey. If your existing fascia boards are sound and securely fixed, we can attach new guttering directly to them. If they are rotting, warped, or pulling away from the rafters, then replacing them at the same time makes practical and financial sense — it avoids having to remove the guttering again later to deal with failing timber underneath.
What type of guttering is best for Welsh weather?
For most properties in Cardiff and South Wales, uPVC in a deepflow or high-capacity profile is a solid choice. It handles the volume of rainfall we typically see and requires very little upkeep. For properties with steep-pitched roofs or larger surface areas, aluminium deepflow guttering provides extra capacity and greater durability. We will recommend the most appropriate option for your specific property during the survey.
Do you offer a guarantee on gutter installations?
Yes. All gutter installations carried out by Wales Roofing & Guttering come with a written guarantee covering both workmanship and materials. The exact terms depend on the system fitted, but you will receive full details in writing before the job starts.
